Fashionistas may be considering jobs as models or fashion designers, but here at SmartGirl we consider using the fashionistas’ love for trends and fashion in other careers such as:
Cosmetic Scientist
- This career involves researching, developing and playing a part in the manufacture of makeup and the ingredients for cosmetic products. These products include: lipstick, blush, mascara, skin-care products, hair-care products, toiletries, perfumes etc. This industry also oversees the creation of new products, testing these products, packaging development, and that proper federal rules are followed.
- Necessary Skills:
- Interest in chemistry
- Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Science (This means you will have to go to more than four years of school after high school)
- Perks:
- Make a direct impact on the cosmetic industry
- Opportunity to create or improve products!

- Today more than ever it seems that the media has a large affect on how people especially women live their daily lives from choosing what type of clothes to wear to the friends we hang out with. - When most people hear jobs in libraries they think ugghh librarians—grouchy old ladies who always shush you! Well the library industry has undergone a total makeover and there are even degrees in library science! In this field you would learn how to incorporate computers into library settings, how to help people find helpful resources, organizing social media, human-computer interactions (HCI), and etc.

Animation/Graphic Design
- Have you ever played a computer game or watched a movie/commercial and wondered how they could create such graphics? This is the job of a graphic designer! Graphic designers make web sites, computer games, design logos, video games, commercials, and etc. They bring their creativity to life using technology.

- Develop a portfolio showcasing your artwork
