CHERUB: The Recruit by Robert Muchamore (by Kitty-Kat, 15)

"Kick-a** spies!"

Book Rating: **** four stars (incredible)
Book Subcategory: Young Adult

Briefly tell us what this book is about (without giving away the ending, of course!).

James Adams and his sister Lauren are orphans who turn to a life of crime. They get picked up by the police and offered a choice of jail or a new school. The school is a training ground for British spies. This is the first book in a massive series and it's excellent.

How does the title relate to the storyline?

The Recruit is James (and Lauren).

Is there something interesting that the author does to present the story?

I can't remember in this book, but in the newer books he swaps characters so we're not always reading James' point of view.

If you could rewrite the story, what would you change to make it better?

Why would you recommend (or not recommend) this book to a friend?

Because it is truly FAB. Full of action and it's totally realistic and gritty.

Why did you choose to read this particular book?

Because I love action books, esp. spies.
