ttyl (Talk To You Later) by Lauren Myracle (by Melrose, 12)

""ttyl" Is The Book For Everyone!"

Book Rating: **** four stars (incredible)
Book Subcategory: Young Adult

Briefly tell us what this book is about (without giving away the ending, of course!).

This story is about three best friends who are in tenth grade. They have to face mean girls, boys, fighting, teachers, parties, siblings, and parents all in one year!

How does the title relate to the storyline?

TTYL is a phrase that means "Talk to you later". It is often used in texting, im-ing, and emailing. This book is formatted like IM's!

Is there something interesting that the author does to present the story?

Rather than one person telling the story, all three characters play a key role and help make the story flow. It is also written like an IM!

If you could rewrite the story, what would you change to make it better?

I would change absolutely nothing! This book tells the story of tenth graders, much like the tenth graders would actually explain it: in IM format!

Why would you recommend (or not recommend) this book to a friend?

I WOULD recommend this book because it packs humor, drama, and suspense into one book. I would NOT recommend this book to a friend for some inappropriate content and language.

Why did you choose to read this particular book?

I chose to read this book because it looked interesting, I love to IM, and because I had heard NOTHING but good things about it!

Complete this sentence:

When I finished reading the last page of this book, I felt... Excited, I can't wait to read the sequel.

What type of reader do you think this book is appropriate for?

I would think kids 13+ who like friends, drama, boys, and moderately long books would enjoy to read this!

Give at least one example of a memorable quote, moment, or theme from the book.

"Three warm chocolate chip cookies courtesy of the pillsbury dough boy IN. MY. BELLY." I chose this quote, because when I first read it, it made me LOL.

Would you ever read another book by this author?

Yes

In your overall opinion, this book is...

Definitely worth your time.
