SmartGirl Comment Policy

SmartGirl is a worldwide online community where it is our priority to give girls a chance to speak out about their real experiences, thoughts, feelings, and passions. It is our goal not to silence anyone. However, part of not silencing the community is making this a space where all members feel safe to participate. With that in mind, we have made the following guidelines for posting on SmartGirl. Despite this guide, we encourage every commenter to use their own judgment and common sense before posting.

Guidelines:

  1. Be respectful and kind.

    • Think twice before posting a sentence that begins with, "I don't mean to be rude, but..."

    • If you dislike something, try to think of a constructive way to say so.

  2. No personal attacks.

    • You may disagree with another person's opinion

    • You may share an alternative experience to someone else's experience

    • You may correct a mis-stated fact or misunderstanding

    • You may not call anyone names or threaten them

  3. Strong language is allowed only where it contributes to the conversation

    • Do not attack or demean a group or an individual

    • Do emphasize an experience or personal response

SmartGirl does not necessarily endorse or share the opinion of any comment or commenter. Each comment is the responsibility of its poster. However, we reserve the right to edit or remove any post that violates our comment policy.
